203-205,
Main Street
Year
of construction:
1890
Type of architecture:
Gothic Revival style
Historical elements:
Built in 1890 by the Congregationalists, this church replaced
another one that had been destroyed by a fire. The first church
was built thanks to Reverend Connell in 1852. In 1866, the parish
had about 130 people. Like Ste-Rose-de-Lima, the catholic church,
this church did not have a parish priest at the beginning. In
1925, the Methodists that used to be at 168, Main Street and the
Congregationalists joined in the Emmanuel United Church at 203-205,
Main Street.
