Historical elements:
In 1905, the land where this building is located was sold by James
O’Halloran to the Eastern Townships Bank, for the construction
of their new branch which they moved from 225 Main Street, in
1908. In 1913, the Eastern Townships Bank merged with the Bank
of Commerce. This building is located on the site where the post
office and the general store of Peter Cowan, the Eureka Block,
were located.
