Born
in 1825, he settled in Nelsonville (now Cowansville) about 1840.
He was a physician and a druggist. He had a house on Main Street
and next to the house, he had a drugstore.
The
drugstore building was later occupied by the grocery store A&P,
and in 1959, it was the Handy Andy store when it was destroyed
by a fire. This building
was neighborg to the old fire station and town hall, on the present
site of the shopping centre.
Dr.
Brown was also the postmaster from April 1, 1865 to April 13,
1875, the time of his death. He was replaced as postmaster by
Mrs. Helen B. Brown. |
