Dr Hiram LeRoy Fuller, Md  (1840-1912)

 

 

Of Irish descent, he was born on February 3, 1840.

In 1875, he was living and practicing medicine in Sweetsburg Dr Hiram LeRoy Fuller(now part of Cowansville). In 1877, Dr Fuller was the surgeon of the 79th Battalion of the Shefford Highlanders. In 1879, he was also the doctor attached to the Sweetsburg jail. From 1888 to 1898, Dr. Fuller, in addition to being a physician and a surgeon, was the Bell Telephone agent for Sweetsburg.

He was married to Alice Kemp (1851-1932). They lived in a house on Main Street in Sweetsburg and that house in the 1930's became known as "The Fuller Memorial Hospital Annex". Then it was a nurses' residence owned by the Sweetsburg hospital.

Their son, George, became a doctor and their daughter, Margaret married Joseph Marcus O'Halloran, one of the sons of James O'Halloran, the first mayor of Cowansville.The home of Dr Fuller and later "The Fuller Memorial Hospital Annex", a nurses' residence
