We find in Cowansville a boulevard, a lake and a park
named Davignon. Where does that name come from
?

These places were named in honor of the catholic parish priest
who founded the Parish of Ste-Thérèse-de-l'Enfant-Jésus,
J.C. Vitalis Davignon. He was born at St.Alexandre, Iberville
County, April 24, 1884. He became a priest in 1907. From 1922
to 1928, he was the parish priest in Sweetsburg. And in 1928,
he became the first parish priest of Ste-Thérèse-de-L'Enfant-jésus
of Cowansville. Because of health problems, he had to quit in
1942. He died on April 2, 1966.
